UNSATURATED FATTY ACIDS VITAMINS AND MINERALS

The seeds of the hemp plant have a nutty flavor and are high in unsaturated fats (omega 3 and omega 6 and 9) in the right proportion.

Hemp seed is a complete protein source. 65% of the total protein content of hemp seed consists of edestin. This protein is similar to the globulin in the human blood plasma.

This makes hemp seed source of protein of very high quality because it is very similar to our body's own proteins and is very well absorbed by our body.

The other 35% is albumin. Albumin protein is another high quality globulin protein and is similar to that found in egg whites. Albumin is highly digestible and is a major source of free radical scavengers.

Hemp seed is also rich in a variety of minerals such as phosphorus, calcium, potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron, copper, iodine, vitamin E, C and the B vitamins B1, B2, B3 and B6.

The better a protein is digested, the more efficiently it can be used by the body.

The digestibility of any given protein is related to the concentrations of its amino acids.

Hemp protein is a complete protein, but contains little lysine also the amounts of leucine and trytofaan are on the low side.

A strong point of hemp protein is that it contains lots of arginine.
